Prostate Health

The prostate is a gland of the male reproductive system. It is located in front of the rectum just below the bladder and surrounds the urethra. It is about the same size and shape as a chestnut. The main function of the prostate is the formation of secretions - fluid for ejaculation. This fluid forms the environment in which the sperm has the best motility - important for fertilizing the egg. Just before the male orgasm, ejaculate is pushed from the prostate into the urethra by muscle contraction, thus maximizing the male's ability to reproduce.

Did you know that in old age the prostate can be the size of a peach and weigh up to 10 times more than when young?
